About Markus


      Markus Batchelor, life-long Washington and Ward 8 resident, attends Thurgood Marshall Academy PCHS in Southeast Washington, D.C. in the historic Anacostia District. He currently serves as Deputy Youth Mayor for Community Outreach under Youth Mayor Kanesha Overton. He also serves as Debate Team Captain, Student Government President for the Class of 2011 and a participant in many other different organizations and extracurricular actvities.

     He has worked with the Anacostia Coordinating Council, DC Vote Organization and his new, self-founded youth political organization, Teenocracy. His involvement with politics and passion for the improvement of the Washington government system, has taken him to volunteering for the Obama  2008 Presidential Campaign and also the Charles Wilson for Ward 8 2008 Campaign.

     Markus believes that the youth of Washington D.C. should play a vital role in the improvement of the city and the maintenance of a safe, educated and top city.  As he continues his campaign for Youth Mayor, he hopes to meet with you and assist you in making a better Washington and a better young population in Washington
